5 Common COBRA Mistakes

Are you up to speed on COBRA coverage? Due to Missouri and Arkansas mini-COBRA laws,  most employers are required to develop a COBRA program in these states. Whether COBRA administration is handled by the employer or a third party administrator (TPA), the legal obligation is the employer’s.

Common COBRA Mistakes include:

  1. Not realizing your group health plan is subject to COBRA
  2. Assuming COBRA only applies to major medical coverage
  3. Failure to recognize a qualifying event
  4. Not considering state “mini-COBRA” laws
  5. Not notifying or providing inadequate notice to qualified individuals
