HR Tip of the Week: Does Your Company Work to Attract Employees with Disabilities?
According to research conducted by SHRM & Workplace Initiative, employers are slow to include persons with disabilities in their initiatives for diversity & inclusion. The research cites lack of training, general misunderstanding of disabilities and fear of doing or saying something unlawful as underlying factors to the slow progress in recruitment of workers with disabilities. Despite this, nearly all managers (92 percent) who are aware that one or more of their employees have a disability said those individuals perform the same as or better than their peers who don’t have disabilities.
