HR Tip of the Week: New Guidance on EEO Law and COVID-19

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has provided answers to rising HR questions related to COVID-19. This guidance seeks to help employers continue to mitigate the effects of the virus while maintaining compliance in areas such as:

  • Disability-Related Inquiries and Medical Exams
  • Confidentiality of Medical Information
  • Hiring and Onboarding
  • Reasonable Accommodation
  • Pandemic-Related Harassment Due to National Origin, Race, or Other Protected Characteristics

The latest guidance was published April 17, 2020 and can be accessed here.

When seeking information about reasonable accommodations, employers may find it helpful to consult the Job Accommodation Network (JAN) website for types of accommodations as well as resources specific to COVID-19.
