HR Advantage is looking for a Nurse to join a Kansas City, MO based client to support individuals with developmental disabilities in a caring, respectful environment.
Primary Function:
Provide nursing support while teaching basic academic and daily living skills to individuals with developmental disabilities. Monitor medical needs, ensure safety, and support overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote a culture of gentleness, respect, and protection of individual rights.
Complete all required documentation accurately and on time using designated systems.
Supervise LPNs and ensure event logs, medical records, and follow-up documentation are completed per state regulations.
Assist individuals with hygiene, personal care, feeding, and medication administration.
Work collaboratively or independently to support individuals’ daily needs.
Serve as backup Site Coordinator when needed and ensure daily schedules and communications are completed.
Report employee injuries immediately and follow all workers’ compensation procedures.
Provide input for grants, outcome management, and program evaluation efforts.
Participate in the ISP process, assist with goals, complete daily documentation, and attend ISP meetings as required.
Attend all required meetings and trainings, including annual and mandatory sessions.
Maintain certifications as a Trainer for CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration; assist with training staff as needed.
Maintain active nursing licensure with the State of Missouri.
Implement program curriculum and assist with activities or special events.
Communicate medical concerns promptly and ensure all required TLog notifications are entered.
Chair the Medication Committee, conduct mini-trainings, complete meeting minutes, and ensure follow-up items are addressed.
Oversee MARs, daily medication checks, quarterly audits, and reporting.
Maintain and update doctor’s orders and ensure compliance with current medication policies.
Provide quarterly trainings to employees and medical-related training to individuals (hand washing, flu prevention, etc.).
Document and monitor medication side effects and maintain appropriate records.
Follow financial procedures for purchase orders and monthly credit card receipts.
Maintain a professional attitude with staff, individuals served, agencies, and the public.
Maintain universal precautions and complete annual required trainings.
Support employment-focused services and participate in related trainings.
Use company equipment and network appropriately for work purposes only.
Assist with facility upkeep and follow all organizational policies (Health & Safety, Abuse/Neglect, HR, Technology, HIPAA, Code of Ethics, confidentiality, COVID-19 compliance).
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education/Training Requirements:
Nursing degree with at least two years of nursing experience.
Current Missouri nursing license.
High school and college diploma required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong desire to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Excellent communication, writing, time management, and computer skills.
Ability to complete or maintain training in CPR, First Aid, Gentle Teaching, Medication Administration, safety, prevention, and related areas.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and willingness to obtain a chauffeur’s license within 30 days of employment
