• Experience, Highlights & Achievements: At a property management company, I oversaw 7 departments which supported the operations of over 4000 multi-family apartment units. In the almost 3 years I was there I created a Safety Department, a Preventative Maintenance Department and a Warehouse Department. The warehouse consisted of purchasing an 18,000 Sq.Ft. warehouse space, negotiated bulk discounts with vendors and housing at wholesale all of the most commonly used supplies to support the business and sold them to the properties at retail. This created a savings of 30% off our cost of goods to the management company which passed the savings onto the properties but included a markup so the warehouse was financially self sufficient. The next step was to run all of our new construction supplies through it for our development company. With an average of $20M a year in new development this would create savings of approximately $7M annually. I also realigned the service department and added an overnight shift which cut overtime labor by $101,000 over the course of the year. When hurricane Erma hit the Caribbean in September 2017 I proposed to the board of directors that since we have a team of skilled service techs and it was the slow time of year for us, that we put together a team and go do disaster relief. They granted that wish so I partnered with Convoy of Hope for logistical help and fundraising support. We collected over $40,000 and went on two trips down there and helped rebuild the Humane Society of St. Thomas since all of our properties were pet friendly, as well as helped clean up Cruz Bay, St. John from the ravages of the storm. With the funds we purchased and sent a 40' shipping container with 15 pallets of dog and cat food and all the supplies needed for the trips. With my 10 years at a chain restaurant as a Regional Manager I was responsible for operations of four locations in Kansas City and participating in a total of 11 new store openings. At some point in everyone's life while on vacation somewhere beautiful everyone says to themselves, "I wish I lived here." Not only did I have that thought on many occasions as we visited each island in the Eastern Caribbean, I acted on it and moved to St. Thomas, USVI to own and operate a bar/restaurant which was right where the cruise ships dock every day. This allowed me to pursue my passions of SCUBA diving and exploring the Caribbean by boat.
• Skills & Qualifications: With over 35 years of athletic competition on the national level in racquetball, water skiing and diving I sprinkle my many takeaways that I have learned in sports into my day to day management style.
